Burning Spear The Zenith Paris, France May 21, 1988 Found this as a torrent which contained only the necessary DVD files but no info file or cover art. Some info is provided in the onscreen menus but most of the info here comes from online research so it may not be entirely accurate. The Zenith show was recorded for release as both a vinyl record and a VHS tape. The record was released in 1989 and was nominated for a Grammy in 1990 (best Reggae record). Despite not winning a Grammy, the record, Live in Paris 1988, has remained popular and has been re-released several times on CD (including a special 2 disc edition which contained the entire concert). The VHS version (which contained a different song selection than the vinyl) hasn't fared as well. It hasn't been released in any format since the initial release. As noted in the onscreen menus the maker of this DVD took the original video and, through a combination of cropping and slightly stretching the video, turned the original fullscreen video into a widescreen format. The original audio was replaced with a soundboard recording and a remastered version of the sb audio (you can choose between the two). The song list for this DVD is: Spear Burning Happy Day Creation Rebel Mistress Music The Wilderness Driver Door Peep Old Marcus Garvey Swell Headed The musicians performing at this concert are: Winston Rodney (Burning Spear) – lead vocal and percussion Nelson Miller – drums Devon Bradshaw – bass David Hinds – guitar Derrick Johnson – lead Guitar Alphonso Martin – percussion Pamela Fleming – trumpet Jennifer Hill – saxophone Nilda Richards – trombone Michael Bearden – synthesizer and keyboard Maybe in time the original video will re-released (hopefully including the entire concert) but until then enjoy this version. I store my bootleg DVDs in slimline CD cases as a spacesaving measure and included the artwork I made for anyone who may also use this method.
